The “Better Penang” mobile app is designed to integrate with existing Facebook accounts. Using Facebook also means utilising its free database and notice board “wall” features, (which would otherwise be prohibitively expensive to run on our own, and thus be in the exclusive domain of the affluent and powerful).

Using the “Better Penang” app, users will be able to upload complaints and ideas to the local authorities in just three simple steps – snap a photo, tag the location and post the issue. This Snap-Tag-Post system makes lodging complaints to MPPP and MPSP very convenient compared to the conventional ways of doing it, like phone calls or emails or through the council's website. Transforming the way we deal with the government, removing obstacles and making such transactions easier can certainly empower the people. As Chua said, if a new system is to be of any value, it must be highly accessible to all, from teenagers to senior citizens. The mobile app was also built to operate in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.
