Federation of Sri Lankan Local Govt. Authorities is the National Local Govt. Association in Sri Lanka serving all 335 Local Councils (including Municipalities, Urban Councils and Rural Councils) Established in 2007, as a limited by guarantee, non-government organization we are working with National Ministry and Provincial Ministries, and other affiliated partners to strengthen the local councils in Sri Lanka. FSLGA is a member of United Cities and Local Govt. and Commonwealth Local Govt. Forum and also have strategic partnership with number of international organizations and platforms including LOGIN ASIA, ICMA- USA, UI – Guangzhou China,
As a developing country Sri Lanka has not used enough new technologies in public local management. Under the current government the focus is now on improving the transparency and accountability of the local councils through using technology. Most of the innovative mechanisms are available with the international platform which could be customized to our requirements, These technologies are widely tested and developed hence could be adopt effectively. As the National Association we feel being partner of URAIA, we would be able to acquire knowledge on new technology that are innovated and used by other countries.
