Bogotá is the capital city of the Republic of Colombia.The city is located in the centre of Colombia, on a high plateau known as the Bogotá savanna, part of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense located in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes. It is the financial and commercial heart of Colombia, with the most business activity of any city in the country.

It is the mission of the Council of Bogotá as the supreme authority in administrative matters, to exercise political Control over the District administration and to issue Norms to Promote the comprehensive development of the city and Its inhabitants, in compliance With the essential purposes of social the State of law, through of an autonomous, efficient and modern administrative organization and a culture of self-control as well as monitoring and controlling the effectiveness of the management of the Institutions and District Authorities, in Accordance with the principles, rights and duties Enshrined in the Political Constitution, the law and the agreements.
