Why Chicago?
The City of Chicago and City Tech work together to leverage SMART (Sustainable, Measurable, Accountable, Realistic, Transparent) technologies for local innovation and inclusion. Chicago is a world-leading city in developing data assets, data management platforms, and data conventions to improve city services for all its citizens. Its partner, City Tech, is a leader in piloting solutions to solve complex, cross-sector urban challenges.
This robust technology ecosystem has paved the way for leadership from academia, government, nonprofits, and industry to make SMART investments in programs across public health, emergency preparedness, infrastructure, and mobility.
From innovations like the City’s OpenGrid data platform to university-driven initiatives like the Array of Things, Chicago, City Tech, and their many stakeholders leverage data and technology to serve the public good.
Which areas are we interested in?
How can I actively participate?
We are launching a call for international experiences across these 4 priority areas. The objective is to gather information on other cities’ ongoing or planned initiatives that are applying SMART technologies.
