b>Uraia Platform together with the CGLU Community of practices on digital cities, UN-Habitat and FMDV is organizing a session untitled Using urban innovation to listen to citizens, to be held in the framework of the CGLU Congress 11-15 November 2019, at the Durban International Convention Center (South Africa). The Uraia session will take place on Tuesday 12th November at 16h30 pm (1 hour).

The objectives of the session are:

-          To exchange experiences and learning amongst peers by sharing challenges and innovative solutions available to cities with concrete example of citizen participation

-          To discuss ways to organize multi-stakeholders and multi-sectorial dialogues and platforms to create a shared culture of working and co-construct solutions to specific cases

-          To discuss ways of monitoring and evaluating innovations in service delivery

-          To identify new opportunities to “build with” and “govern with” city residents.

-          To establish collaboration between participating cities at the to assist leaders with the implementation of new initiatives

 Main deliverables and/or impact of the session are:

-          Innovative experiences taking place in cities in the field of using SMART technologies to improve municipal management and finances in order to support SDGs from a bottom up approach are identified.

 The session will count with the participation of Francisco Salado, President of the Malaga Provincial Council and Mayor of the Rincon de la Victoria, Málaga, Spain, Mr Stephane Redon, Founding Member, So SEN, Diana Lopez Caramazana, Head of the Local government and decentralization Unit at UN-HABITAT, Kenya and Jean François Habeau, Executive Director of the FMDV.

Discussion will be encouraged with enough time for exchange between the panellists and the audience (e.g. local governments, private sector, civil society, etc.). experiences presented during the session will be disseminated at large in upcoming Uraia events and in communications channels and platforms.
